GENERAL SUMMARY
The Associate Design Engineer is an entry-level position reporting directly to the Director of OSP Design Engineering. The primary function of this position is to create Outside Plant designs based on property architectural decisions and to complete construction Bill of Materials (BOM) based on designs. He/She will work closely with the Director of OSP Design, senior engineers and other employees of the organization to determine appropriate technology architecture decisions for each project.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Complete conduit layout and OSP cable designs for both new (Greenfield) and existing (Overbuild) Developments.
• Create Bill of Materials based on designs
• Analyze financial impacts, both material and labor, to designs based on technology selections for developments.
• Effectively communicate to construction team, both managers and subcontractors, to ensure construction is built to design specification.
• Performs other related duties as assigned and required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD is required.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
• Word/Excell – Strong Skills Needed
• Access experience a plus
• Must have a proven comfort level with working in a fast paced design setting
• Must be able to work independently with limited direction
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Strong organizational skills
• Task oriented and big-picture minded
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Associate level degree in technology field preferred
• Minimum 2 years construction or engineering work experience preferred
