Description

GENERAL SUMMARY

The primary responsibility of the Senior Systems Programmer is to lead system development initiatives to support business processes related to customer service, communication services, order fulfillment, billing and/or network maintenance. The Senior Systems Programmer has primary accountability for leading small teams to deliver software systems to address business requirements in a rapidly evolving and growing business environment.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
 
Serves as team leader to ensure software solutions are designed, implemented and tested to deliver maximum value to the functional organization.
  • Researches and evaluates business requirements.
  • Develop system design in response to requirements and identify any tradeoffs to senior management.
  • Leading the programming effort through unit test and support system and acceptance testing.
  • Help document new features, prepare training and support change management efforts.
  • Report progress on above to management on a weekly basis or as required.
  • Provide support to existing system when problems reported to avoid or minimize service interruption.
  • Identifies and isolates systems problems.
  • Circumvents problem.
  • Develops long-term resolutions.
Performs other related duties as assigned and required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Web development frameworks
  • Knowledge of multiple programming languages including but not limited to Java, TCL, XOTCL, Perl, SQL 
  • Application development;
  • Data modeling, process modeling
  • Relational DBMS 
  • Subversion source control
  • Linux operating system
  • Billing and order fulfillment in the communications industry
  • Analyze, identify, and solve technical problems; 
  • Analyze and/document business requirements and translate these requirements into functional design.
  • Lead projects using agile programming methodologies; Prioritize and direct the work of others. 
  • Design, develop, and control the development of new enterprise applications 
  • Analyze and maximize technical and operational performance characteristics based upon specified guidelines;
Education/Training
  • BA/BS/BE in computer science related fields
Experience
  • Minimum 8+ years
